What is CareRing?
CareRing, designed by community service organisation Uniting Kildonan, is a holistic approach to supporting and empowering vulnerable customers.
We know that when an individual reaches out for help with one issue, there are often several other issues at play. When someone is struggling to pay a bill, deal with a family situation or address a health issue, finding the right support from the right service can seem like an insurmountable challenge. CareRing helps vulnerable people to identify and address all the issues they face, before they spiral out of control.
CareRing acts as a single point of referral, increasing people’s ability to pay and stay on top of their bills through a care team of skilled professionals who are able to assess and respond to complex issues (such as family violence, drug and alcohol and mental health which are inter-related factors which may impact on ability to pay bills).
How does CareRing work?
CareRing provides an extensive range of support services through a centralised, coordinated point of contact for people referred by our corporate partners. Some of the assistance vulnerable people may receive when they call CareRing includes:
- information about a range of services and resources available
- links to supports available through their utility company or financial services provider
- support to access various services, including financial counselling, energy advice, family violence support, housing, drug and alcohol support, and more
- intensive support and potentially ongoing case management by trained and skilled community service professionals.
